Back to the Grindstone (and other adventures)

My summer vacation is over. It was a good stint while it lasted. I had a lot of fun. But going back to work last week has been quite draining on me. I couldn't blog. I couldn't even look at others' blogs. Life as I know it...is over.

But here are some of our adventures since I last posted.

My favorite dad celebrated his 56th birthday. My dad is the best. And every year we try to figure out what he would like. This year he was very specific. haha. I love you dad.

He wanted this special Ventures CD. It is out of print. We had to special order it. But it came in time and he and my mom were able to take it on their weekend excursion. (see-if my mom had a blog, everyone could see her cool pics.)

While mom and dad were away, Allie and Aaron got home from their honeymoon. Sunday we had a little gathering to celebrate dad's birthday and open Double A's wedding gifts.

I think men should have bridal showers. Aaron was really into opening the gifts. He loved all of the housing stuff. He got so excited. I love this picture of him. So far he's been the best brother in law any girl could want!

And I'm a little embarrassed to mention my last adventure. Especially after reading my friend "Naomes" blog. She is so intellectual and such a great writer. She had such an opinion of the Twilight books, Naomi- if you read this blog...STOP HERE.

So last night at midnight the 4th book in the series came out. My original plan was to pick it up today and not brave the crowds. But I changed my mind as the night wore on. I took my friend, Brenda, with me to Barnes and Noble to pick it up. Well, it wasn't something that was going to be that easy. They had a party there and everything. I LOVED people watching. It was the highlight of my night. So for those of you who didn't go to a Twilight party- I will fill you in. The above display was set up right when you walked in the door.

There were roses and stuff everywhere. People were wearing the greatest shirts. Some of my favorites included:

Team Edward/ Team Jacob (These varied from homemade with puffy paint to professionally made ones.)

Football jerseys covered with glitter and the name CULLEN on the back.

One mom wore a shirt that said "I'm a Twilight mom." her mom friend wore a shirt that said "Bite me, Edward" (these were both homemade. and hilarious.)

My favorite was: "Save a Volvo, ride Edward Cullen" (How clever and funny is that?)

People were in vampire garb, some were in PROM garb. It was a sight. I just stood there laughing. Boyfriends were there. Dad's were there. Laughing too.

This voting table was set up by Starbucks.

AND- I bought the book. I wasn't going to leave empty-handed was I? (and yes, those are my new glasses that I got- to usher in my 30th birthday in a couple of months. These ones are NOT fake.)

I am holding off on the book-- I am so back logged with life right now that I can't pick up the book and start or nothing would get done. I might have to wait for fall break to read it, do you think I can hold out that long?

Enjoy it!!
